My little girl wants to be like me…
And I want to be like her.
Ironic, huh?
After watching me write my third story, she came to me and asked, “mommy, will you write a book for me about an owl?”
“An owl?”
“Yes.”
“Umm…what’s this owl doing?”
“She’s got eggs.”
“Okay…”
Insert crickets chirping.
“Mommy needs a little more information about this owl.”
“She thinks that she is the most amazing owl ever just because she has eggs.”
Now that we can work with.
I guess that’s cool. She wants to be like me. I can live with that.
My hope is that she is an edited, revised, BETTER version of me.
Hebrews 13:7 NIV
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
If my daughter is going to be like me, I want to be a model of love and compassion to help guide her little heart. I want to be someone that I WANT her to imitate. I pray that she can avoid some of my bumps and bruises, learn from my mistakes, put God first, and love others like she has been called to do. I want her to see me trying to put my best foot forward, sharing love and kindness. I want her to hear me admit my mistakes, pray about them, and not give up…even when life is hard.
She’s a great kid, with a compassionate heart. She’s off to a great start in life…
And, I still want to be like her…
I want to be like her too.
